CATHY ROMERO

Cathy is in her ninth year serving in prison ministry. Several years ago, she felt God’s unmistakable call to leave her corporate career and dedicate her life to walking alongside those who are incarcerated. She answered that call by returning to school, graduating from Denver Seminary, and now serves as a Chaplain with the Colorado Department of Corrections at the Denver Complex. The Denver Complex includes Colorado’s maximum-security women’s and men’s prisons, as well as an infirmary for those who are sick, recovering from surgery, or nearing the end of life.

Cathy’s ministry offers hope and healing to women and men living behind prison walls. She provides a compassionate presence—listening without judgment, praying with those who ask, and reminding each person that their life still holds value and purpose. She also sits with the sick and dying, ensuring that no one faces their final days alone.

Her care continues beyond the prison walls, walking alongside individuals as they return to their communities and begin rebuilding their lives. Through this work, Cathy helps restore dignity, faith, and connection—offering light in some of the darkest places.

At the heart of her ministry is a desire to share the love of Jesus and remind every person she meets that hope and redemption are always possible.
