‘Tis the good reader that makes the good book…

–Emerson

…And it’s the good reading community that feeds the collective soul.
Urban Skye holds a monthly Book Salon, open to anyone who's read the chosen title for the month. Our leanings are "mainly contemporary, mainly fiction," and we bring a broad curiosity to all manner of the human experience. Like other Urban Skye arts events, our Salons examine a work for its imagination, wisdom and conscience.

Salons:

We gather on one Thursday a month, starting at 6:30 pm with hors d'oeurves, then dissect our book from 7 to 9. Location is the Skye House, but we also meet at other venues for author readings and special events.

Scotty Sawyer is the facilitator for Urban Skye Book Salons. He’s the author of Earthly Fathers: A Memoir, and the former editor of Mars Hill Review, a journal of arts and culture.
